Context

The County Council initiated a European transborder cooperation project between the border regions Constanta and Calarasi, and respectively the districts of Dobrich and Silistra from Bulgaria. The project financed from European funds, was to be installed as a network of informing terminals for the inhabitants of the area and the tourists, containing data and information about the towns and history, and also tourist information, hotels and restaurants information.

Challenge

The project was meant to include a nework of 12 outdoor terminals, with interactive and video support, interconnected in a network and administrated by 2 control centres - in Constanta and Dobrich. The devices included 2 interchangeble parts – one incorporating a touch monitor of 42’ and a signalling ticker, and the second, with touch monitor of 21’, web camera sand key-pad.

Solution

TomTouch Combi solution was created for the above project – a device formed by 2 bodies, built by wheatherproof material and resistant to high salt content in the atmosphere. The application ran on terminals comprising 2 parts - an informing part, which contained information about all the towns involved in the project – and a thouristic one, which was presented under an interesting form, containing photos of the thouristic objectives across the area.
The project inaugurated in September 2009, in the presence of the Mayor of Constanta, Radu Mazare, is the greatest data base containing information about the towns under the project. TomTouch both designed and manufactured the terminals, and created the application for the project “International Network of Information Terminals Romania-Bulgaria”.
